CT. 00 About FORMIK

A print on every sole

Sole outlines drawn on paper next to knit swatches

Most grip socks have the same thing underfoot: a field of silicone dots. It works, and nobody ever looks at it. We wanted the underside of the sock to be the part worth looking at.

So every FORMIK sock carries a print on its sole: stacked waves, five-petal flowers, a fingerprint, a contour map, rings from falling drops, rows of scallop fans. Six line drawings, printed in silicone from heel to toe. When you press into the footbar or step onto the carriage, the print is right there.

Only the small things for class

We make the things you pack for reformer, barre and mat classes and nothing else: grip socks, sets of grip socks, a few knit layers for the first and last ten minutes, mat and reformer towels, and bags to keep socks in.

The same six prints run through all of it. The Tide wave on a crew sock comes back on the hem of a wrap top, on the underside of a reformer towel and on a drawstring bag. Put them together and one class wears one print. We call that a class kit.

What we say and what we do not

We describe what the products are: the cut, the colours, where the print runs, the sizes in centimetres. We do not rate how much any sock grips, and we do not claim our products prevent injuries or help recovery. How any grip sock behaves depends on the floor, the equipment, the sweat and the wear, so check your footing before you load a spring.

From a line drawing to a sole

  1. 01Draw

Each print starts as a line drawing: waves, petals, a fingerprint, a map, rings, fans.

  2. 02Fit

The drawing is fitted to the sole outline in three sizes, so every size carries the whole picture.

  3. 03Print

The lines are printed in silicone onto the knitted sole. On wraps they are knitted in; on towels they go on the underside.

  4. 04Class

Socks, a layer and a towel in one print make up a kit for one class.
